Year 7 Enterprise Day at New Mills School

As part of last year’s Enterprise day, Year 7 students took part in 5 different challenges.

  1. Building a tower - In teams, students had a limited amount of time to plan and build a tower. They were given a limited budget and had to decide what to buy in order to build a tower as tall and strong as they could.
  2. First Aid at Work - A guest came in to show the students some basic First Aid skills.
  3. Outdoor challenges - Whitehall Outdoor Pursuits Centre came with outdoor equipment and set the students off on a number of team building tasks. These included walking together tied to a long plank of wood and directing blindfolded colleagues around an assault course.
  4. Designing a new letterhead for the school - Students learnt a number of technical ICT skills whilst designing a new letterhead for the school.
  5. Recycling Project - Students learnt how important recycling is and discussed ways of reducing waste.

This year’s enterprise day promises to be just as successful for year 7 and will give them the chance to improve enterprise skills such as teamwork, organisation, financial literacy, decision making, personal effectiveness, communication and leadership.
