Year 11 Enterprise Day at New Mills School

As part of last year’s Enterprise Day, Year 11 students spent the day at New Mills Town Hall where Young Enterprise set them a challenge of setting up a company. Students had to decide what to sell, seek a loan, buy materials, make a product and attempt to sell it for a profit. Working as a coherent team and using creativity were the key to success.

The day was a huge success with students getting to grips with business and financial awareness. They also had the opportunity to improve a wide range of enterprise skills, including organization, team work, financial literacy, selling, application of number, communication and innovation.

At the same time, a small group of year 11 students spent the day learning some brick building skills by Fern Training. Hidden away in the old swimming pool they showed that the idea to convert this into a construction warehouse would be a good one. The construction centre is now complete and will be open for business very soon.
